PRETTY PORCELAIN

Happy Monday! Hope you all had lovely weekends. I love lighting, I am always on the look out for new and beautiful products. These lights are just so stunning, made of porcelain with imprints of traditional Norwegian patterns used in knitting, the 'Story' light tells of the contrast between the harsh cold winters in Norway and the warmth of the home. The lamps are designed and made by VS design studio and Ida Noemi Vidal.

FOLKLORE

Time to break out that fiddle... It seems folk style is making a come back especially in the tiled variety. I am still unsure as to what I think of this trend. Perhaps in a vary paired back interior as a feature may work, as per the last image...

EXTREME EAMES LOVE

As an Interior Designer I am always constantly on the search for new and inspiring products, always wanting to keep abreast of current trends. Yet nothing can compare to a design classic. Classic pieces that look as fab now as they did back in the 1940's. I have always been a admirer and lover of the design duo Ray and Charles Eames, who isn't really?! Their Molded Plastic Chairs look amazing in any environment (even around my own dining table!)...

ECO FRIENDLY INTERIOR

BrandBase is an advertising firm located in Amsterdam, their eco friendly interior created out of recycled pallets was designed by MOST Architecture. I love how the pallets give a sense that they are meandering through the space, up the stairs to form the workspaces above. Beautiful!

SOME ARCHITECTURE EYE CANDY

Hubby and I have been planning our overseas trip for next year that mainly entails travelling through Scandinavia. Hubby's one regret when we lived in London was not getting to see the famous Therme Vals by the uber architect Peter Zumthor in Switzerland. Could we possibly do a side trip over to Switzerland to check it out? Hmmm I am sure all the travelling we are planning to do will mean some relaxation time required at the end... I am convinced...

MARC JACOBS TOKYO

Marc Jacobs (who in my opinion is one of the coolest fashion designers in the world!) has opened up a flagship store in Tokyo. Jacobs has long been an admirer of the inherent traditional craft in Japanese architecture. The lantern looking building, with the top portion being made of perforated aluminium panels, was designed by the New York firm Jaklitsch/Gardner Architects. Might have to start saving for that trip to Japan or more so for one of MJ's 'petal to the metal natasha' bags....

KITCHEN ASPIRATION

I am desperate to renovate our kitchen, but just having had the little man and living on one wage means we will have to wait for a bit. I will just have to be content with repainting walls, respraying cabinets, new handles and shelves. All this will make a huge difference to our very tired and dated kitchen. I am itching to get started on it! But for now I thought I would show you some sigh worthy kitchens I have been gazing longingly at...
