I am a bit obsessed with the Scandinavians and their incredible taste in design and now I can add something else to my list of lust worthy objects. This is the 'Drum' table by Corrina Warm for Swedese. The bowl is made from solid ash and is detachable. This is absolute classic design at its best. Enough said.

COLOUR GRADUATION

This week's object crush is the stunning timber blocks 'Trift' by Judith Seng. As described on Judith Seng's website;

Trift explores the ideal of perfect, high-gloss surfaces by creating and destroying them within the same object. Each form and surface derives from the individual size, characteristics and gradual transformations over time of the underlying tree-log.

I am so taken with the sheer gorgeousness of them! You definitely need more than one!

STRING LOVE

Happy Monday all! I have been putting some thought into the design of our home office and shelving is definitely high on the priority. I want something that looks great, isn't too heavy in apperance and doesn't dominate the room. The 'String' shelving by Nisse Strinning is a very stunning solution. The only problem is choosing the combination and colour - white for me though!

PLAYTIME

Today's post is some very gorgeous children's furniture designed by the very talented Ludovic Renson. The furniture range is titled 'playtime' and the loveliest thing about the pieces is not only the amazing design but the material palette that he has used - a combination of wood and felt. Stunning!

DE VORM

Happy Monday to you all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend whatever you were doing. Today's post is furniture by the Dutch company De Vorm. It is an environmentally conscious company that uses recycled or FSC certified products in all their furniture and each product is developed by dynamic young designers. Very cool!

The 'Pod Chair' was created to use in both commercial and residential situations where privacy is a requirment. The chair is made of pressed felt that has acoustic properties and the chair pad and back rest are upholstered in the lovely Kvadrat fabric. The 'Pod Chair' is designed by Benjamin Hubert. Check out his website as he is a seriously talented designer.

'Clip Chair' by German designer Sebastian Herkner. Herkner's love of texture and materials is very evident in his work and was developed when he undertook an internship with Stella McCartney. I absolutely adore this chair and the junctions between the different materials.

JEAN PROUVE

Good morning all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I have been lusting after a sculptural wall light for ages. There is nothing as beautiful as the Jean Prouve 'Potence' wall light. It is absolutely stunning. But then so are most of Prouve's works. Having admired a number of his designs over the years I realised I did not know very much about this talented man. Jean Prouve was born in France as his name suggests, and was a metal worker by trade and a self taught Architect and designer. Here is a snippet about the talented designer taken from the Vitra Design Museum website -

Today, Prouvé is prized as one of the most innovative architectural and furniture draftsman of the 20th century. Thanks to his technical knowledge of production, he consistently developed detachable, light constructions - from small barracks to large halls, multifunctional facade systems as well as movable or dismountable, extremely solid furniture. As a consequence of the increasing enthusiasm for technology in recent years Prouvé's influential inventions in building construction and simple industrial functional furniture have been acknowledged once again and hence experienced a renewed appreciation.

Prouve was also the president of the design jury in 1971 for the Centre Pompidou, and played an important role in the selection of Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano for the winning, now very iconic, design in Paris. The following images are a selection of just some of his amazing works..

WOOD, STEEL & COLOUR

There is an emerging trend at present where raw timber is combined with steel and pops of colour. Very apparent in the work of Tomas Alonso which I have blogged about a couple of times here and here. BROTHERS IN ARMS

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec make up the very talented and if somewhat eccentric brotherly design duo. Born in France in 1971 and 1976 respectively, the brothers have been working together for ten years. Their big break came when they exhibited their 'Disintergrated Kitchen' at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1997 which caught the eye of Cappellini. Since then they have gone from strength to strength and work with all the major design companies including Established & Sons, Vitra, Kvadrat, Ligne Roset and Magis, just to name a few. Phew! Busy boys!! The following products will all be exhibited at this years Milan Furniture Fair.

ELEPHANT FRIEND

I am a self confessed Eames fan and it is of no surprise that I absolutely love the Eames Elephant. I tell my husband that I would like to get one for our son but secretly I want one for myself! First designed in plywood in 1945 the elephant never made it into mass production until 2007 where it was made into a plastic version. Just gorgeous!

GRETA GROSSMAN

Greta Grossman (1906-1999) was a Swedish born Architect and Industrial Designer that had a prolific career that spanned two continents from Europe to the United States where she moved in 1940 and settled in Los Angeles. Grossman was well known for her stunning furniture and lighting designs as well as the modernist dwellings that she designed for the Hollywood hills and canyons. Interest in Grossman's work has been rekindled by Danish company Gubi that are relaunching two of her lighting designs 'Cobra' and 'Grasshopper'. The lights were shown at the recent Stockholm furniture fair. Inspirational stuff!

MONDAY FURNITURE GOODIES

My very stunning and stylish sister works at one of Australia's high-end furniture companies. She has one of the best jobs I think - working around beautiful furniture all day, whilst also getting to do some interior design and styling. Her company stocks the very sophisticated furniture and accessories of the French company Ligne Roset. Sis was showing me their latest products and I just about drooled!
