OUTDOOR INSPIRATION

My house is in a continual state of repairs. We moved into our home almost 3 years ago. The first home my husband and I have owned together. It's mid-century with beautiful north facing windows that overlooks a pond across the road. I love living here so much, but the endless list of things we need to do to this old house of ours can get a little overwhelming. But in saying that I also get overly excited by the things we can do to it, and boy it is starting to look like a different house to when we moved in. My husband always says to me I am happiest with a paint brush in my hand! It is true! Whilst we are still in the depths of winter over here in Australia, my mind is wandering to the warm weather that awaits us. So I am keen to get moving on renovating our backyard into more of a place that I want to hang out in and relax. Especially now that by the time summer comes our little man will be 2! I can see us spending endless hours outdoors!

I have put together some images that inspire me for our outdoor space. Big on the agenda is building a deck and hopefully slidng/bifold doors to our back patio area. Then we will need, a large table, chairs etc etc!

Gosh it is fun to plan! Enjoy...

this image has my heart a flutter, this is very similar to how our deck and doors could look. Could we build in a day bed too? Hmmm..

RUG UP

A new rug (a couch, entertainment unit etc, etc!) is on my wishlist for our living room. I can't go past the gorgeous rugs from Armadillo & Co. Not only do they look beautiful but they are made ethically. Here is a snippet from Armadillo & Co's website;

Every piece embraces Fair trade practices and is crafted from sustainable natural fibers including pure wool, jute, cotton and hemp. All purchases benefit local schools in our weavers villages.
We aim for our rugs to lie lightly on this earth.

Below are some of my favourites;

Masai - White/Crimson

Rope Weave - Natural/Black

Ribbon Stripe - Black/White

WALLPAPER LOVE

I blogged recently about Piet Boon's new collection of timber look wallpaper here which is just beautiful. Well they have bought out a new collection of concrete looking ones and they are just stunning! I discovered the collection over at VosgesParis where they are running a competition to win two rolls. Boy I hope I win! Extreme love!

APARTMENT LOVE

I couldn't help but posting this gorgeous apartment. It really is a beautiful blend of white and grey hues offset by the warm timber elements. Also that light and the artwork on the credenza is to die for! Gosh the swedes never fail to impress me, it also makes me yearn even more to visit. Next year people!

NEON LOVE

Neon colours are a hot trend right now. It's not something I see lasting but it is pretty fun. I think small hits of fluoro make a big impact in a space. Just like the ones below. Will you be adding a bit of neon colour to your interior?

UNDER THE BELL

I think I am constantly showing you lighting that I absolutely adore and confess my undying love for. Well this pendant light is no exception. It is so understatedly beautiful and most of all it made with felt, a material that I am utterly obsessed with. I love anything covered in grey felt!

I WANT ONE

I am a bit obsessed with the Scandinavians and their incredible taste in design and now I can add something else to my list of lust worthy objects. This is the 'Drum' table by Corrina Warm for Swedese. The bowl is made from solid ash and is detachable. This is absolute classic design at its best. Enough said.

WEDNESDAY LOVE

I love Wednesday's as The Design Files features a home tour each week of some amazing Australian homes. Today's is just beautiful and has such a summery vibe that makes me love being able to live in this wonderful sunny country. Ahh I love you Australia and happy Australia Day tomorrow! How are you spending yours? We are off to Tassie tomorrow to see my husband compete in a mountain bike race through the west coast. Go hubby!

AMAZING GRACE!

I finally had a chance to visit The Grace Establishment on Wednesday night with a lovely girlfriend. I have been wanting to check it out for ages, as well known Melburnian firm Hecker Guthrie designed the interior. I am a fan of most of their work, although I do tend to find some of it a little to overly decorated and gimmicky, but The Grace Establishment did not disappoint. It is a beautiful crafted interior; its quirky, stylish and fun. I absolutely adore the mint coloured Thonet chairs and the light fittings. I also spotted one of two of Dane Lovett's artworks on the walls, one day one of his pieces will too adorn my walls! Definitely worth checking out!
